About Us

St. John Henry Newman Catholic Elementary School has been a vital part of north Niagara Falls since it opened its doors in 1956. Originally named Cardinal Newman Catholic Elementary School, it honors the legacy of its namesake, English Catholic theologian, philosopher, poet, and scholar, Cardinal John Henry Newman. Pope Francis canonized Cardinal Newman in 2019, and in 2020 the school was renamed to reflect his sainthood

Today, teachers and school staff provide excellence in Catholic education to nearly 550 students in kindergarten through Grade 8, instilling in them the values of St. John Henry Newman, who steadfastly preached and lived by the gospel.

The home of the Firebirds (future Saint Paul Patriots), St. John Henry Newman is a caring, inclusive community, offering before and after-school childcare to students through the YMCA.

St. John Henry Newman is part of the Saint Paul Catholic High School family of schools and the Our Lady of the Scapular parish community.
